These past few days have been very quiet. There are very few people out on the streets and there is no music or laughter to be heard. The nation is mourning.
And I’ve had to figure out whether or not I can or should go to my grandmother's funeral. I really want to be there for my mum to show her that I love her and care about her, but it's a long way to go for three days and very expensive.
In the end I contacted my insurance company and they've agreed to pay for a return ticket. This means I can attend the funeral and then come back to Rwanda to finish my internship. I’ll leave for the UK on Sunday.
Karyn is already in Uganda and Mike and I will leave tomorrow for a holiday. We've used this lull in activity to make preparations for our trip.It only costs £8 on the bus so it's well worth doing.
I’m really looking forward to it.
