Rwanda is a small country in East Africa with a population of about ten and a half million people.
Rwanda was made famous in 1985 when Gorillas In The Mist first hit the big screens to celebrate the life work of Diane Fossey with highland gorillas.
In 1994 Rwanda was devastated by genocide and let down by the international community who failed to stop the violence despite multiple warnings and crys for help. Close to one million people were killed, more than two million were made refugees and thousands were implicated in the bloodshed.
But Rwanda is not just its genocide. Rwanda has a rich culture and beautiful people. God is doing big things in this tiny nation, and it is now leading the way in developing new reconciliation and peace processes. President Kagame seems to be committed to rebuilding the country and uniting his people under one banner. Please pray that God will continue to move powerfully in Rwanda as he shows his power of forgiveness and redemption.
